Not much happened today. We slept in because of the long day in Hakone. We decided to go to Akihabara and take a look around there. The first shop we went in we could do puri-kura and that’s what we did.
When we came out of the shop we were surprised that the people where just walking on the street till we noticed that the road was closed for cars. We went to eat something and got into the next shop where we found a very big collection of mangas on one floor. I have never seen something like that. We left the shop soon and because it had started to rain we went back to the hotel.
After a short break in the hotel we left it again to go to Shiodome to see the ghibli-clock in the evening and went through some shops again where i bought a present and something for me.
Weather: hot, humid, rainy
Distance: Akihabara, Shiodome
Today we made a trip to Hakone. I wanted to visit this place for a very long time already. We woke up early to get ready and our train to Hakone-Yumoto. There we changed the train to get up to Gora Station where we took a short break.
Next was the cable car to Sounzan where we changed to the ropeway up to Owakudani and down again to Lake Ashi. While on the ropeway one of the passengers pointed behind us and said very excited:
So we turned around and there he was, Mt. Fuji. The first time I’ve seen that mountain and maybe the last time for this trip. After we arrived at Lake Ashi we went to a restaurant for lunch and after that nice break we headed to the sightseeing cruise over the lake. Normally we could have seen Fuji-san again, but some fog was coming down the mountains and we couldn’t see a lot.
We left the ship at Hakonemachi-ko and walked the ancient cedar avenue to Motohakone-ko. When we arrived the fog got even thicker, but we still could see the red Tori of the 箱根神社 (Hakone Shrine). Of course we visited the shrine and went down to the Tori which is inside the lake.
On our walk back to Motohakone-ko we decided to drive back to Hakone-Yumoto a bit earlier, since the weather got worse. You couldn’t see much anyway.
We got on the bus and 30 minutes later we arrove at the station and the weather was good again. We stayed there until our train back to Shinjuku came.
Weather: Hot and humid. Later: windy, misty and cloudy
Positive: Being able to see Mt. Fuji
Today we got out of bed quite late so we didn’t do that much again.
The moment i stepped out of the hotel i wanted to get back in again and take a shower xD. This not what i would call summer. I knew that in japan the summer is quite different to the one in germany but this humidity feels aweful. But what surprised me here were the people here who are still wearing long clothes. Aren’t they sweating? Can someone explain this? We headed to shinjuku first to get some more information about Hakone and Kamakura. Then we went to shibuya to walk around for a bit. We went into the “shibuya 109” and took a look at the stores and clothes. So many different styles 0_0.
Afterwards we walked to tower records. Two years ago I left a lot of money there but this year i didn’t bought anything. At last we headed to the Meiji shrine and took a rest there before we were going back to the hotel.
Weather: hot and humid
Distance: Shinjuku, Shibuya, Harajuku
The first day back in japan. It took some time to get here. So we were and still are pretty exhausted.
After we’ve arrived we were greeted by very humid air. Something we are not used to so it really surprised us and didn’t do any good to our mood. Long flight, less sleep and this weather were taking it’s toll on us and we decided after we arrived at the hotel to just relax a little at first.
We got out in the evening at least to see our surroundings. At some point it got very windy and a few raindrops started falling so we decided to buy something to eat and return to the hotel. After we bought our things we got out of the shop and it was raining like hell and you could see lightening and hear thunder. Because we had not brought our umbrellas with us we had to run to the hotel.
That was it for that day.
Weather: cloudy and humid
Positive: to be back in japan
